Workshop on the Central Digital Library at Libyan Universities
The Director of the Libraries, Publications, Publishing, and Distribution Department at Nalut University, Mr. Ramadan Youssef Askar, attended the opening ceremony of a workshop on the Central Digital Library in Libyan universities this morning, Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
This workshop comes within the framework of activating the role of university libraries and promoting them, as well as providing information resources to faculty members, researchers, and students.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Vice President of the Presidential Council, Mr. “Abdullah Al-Lafi,” the Honorable Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb, and the esteemed officials of the central libraries of Libyan universities.
The Central Library Project aims to provide Libyan universities with an advanced digital cataloging system based on the "Koha" system, which facilitates researchers' access to hundreds of thousands of books, journals, and digital publications. The holding company has covered all the costs of the project, which is part of a series of digital transformation initiatives in Libya, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.
