In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of prophets and messengers. Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.

The General Administration of Libraries, Publishing, and Translation aims to improve and develop library activities within the university, overseeing the college libraries and providing them with the latest resources, in addition to building paper and digital collections that support the educational process and scientific research.

The administration adopts a vision aimed at excellence in providing comprehensive library and digital services, and a mission focused on making knowledge accessible to all and supporting the university and the community.

Among its most prominent projects:

The central library: a primary reference that gathers diverse resources for all disciplines.

The electronic library: provides access to digital books and scientific journals.

The digital repository: It preserves the university's scientific output of theses, research, and graduation projects and makes them available to researchers.

Thus, the administration contributes to the development of education, encourages scientific research, and enhances the university's role in serving the community.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

It is responsible for all activities related to providing books, references, periodicals, and scientific journals for the university and similar entities, organizing the utilization of libraries, lending methods, and other related activities. The administration exercises its responsibilities through the following organizational divisions:

       A. Office of Library Affairs and Documentation, which is responsible for the following:-

  • Implementation of technical systems related to technical preparation in the field of libraries, whether concerning equipping libraries with books, classifying and cataloging them, and loan systems, among others.
  • Monitoring the publications of books from various publishing houses and working to supply university libraries with what is suitable for them.
  • Paying attention to educational courses, following what is issued from them, and working on participating in them.
  • Attention to study halls, supervising them, providing them with the necessary books, and facilitating access to and borrowing of these books.
  • Providing libraries, colleges, or departments with their needs for books and other means of knowledge.
  • Providing useful proposals for the development and organization of library services in the university's libraries and its colleges or departments as appropriate.
  • Preparing detailed statistics on book circulation in the library and providing related reports and proposals.
  • Interest in book fairs, participating in them, and working to benefit from them.
  • Supervision of the book stores at the university and its colleges and departments

      B. The Office of Printing, Publishing, Translation, and Scientific Journals, which is responsible for the following:

  • Implementing the Arabization program at the university, providing useful suggestions in this regard, and following up on the committees formed to execute the Arabization programs and facilitate their success.
  • Focusing on the translation and authorship of books at the university, reviewing the evaluation committees, and providing suggestions to encourage translation and authorship activities.
  • Monitoring the movement of authorship and publishing outside the university, with a focus on scientific journals and magazines and subscribing to them.
  • Emphasizing the role of the university and its importance in the movement of authorship, publishing, and printing, and providing useful suggestions in this regard.
  • Collecting manuscripts of authored books, printing them, publishing them, and following up on their marketing at the university and external libraries.
  • Proposal for financial rewards for translation and authorship work at the university in accordance with the applicable regulations.


     C. Supply and Distribution Office, which is responsible for the following:

  • Identifying the needs for references, books, and scientific journals, and classifying and organizing them according to their titles.
  • Carrying out all procedures related to providing libraries with their needs for books, references, and scientific journals.
  • Monitoring the opening of credits for supplying needs and customs clearance operations.
  • Establishing relationships with local, regional, and international publishing houses in order to learn about their latest scientific publications and benefit from them.
  • Participating in book and publication fairs both domestically and internationally and benefiting from them to meet the needs of libraries in coordination with relevant authorities.
  • Documenting all supplies of books, references, periodicals, and the entities to which they have been distributed
