The International Scientific Conference on "The Role of Engineering and Environmental Sciences in the Development and Enhancement of Natural Resources in Libya"
At the kind invitation of the Supreme Committee for the International Scientific Conference on "The Role of Engineering and Environmental Sciences in the Development and Enhancement of Natural Resources in Libya," organized by the Higher Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sciences in Zawiya in collaboration with Zawiya University under the slogan "Regulated Investment and a Clean Environment."
Mr. President of Nalut University, Dr. Mohamed Masoud Qnan, attended the opening ceremony of the international scientific conference on "The Role of Engineering and Environmental Sciences in the Development and Enhancement of Natural Resources in Libya," held at the Libyan Center for Medical Research in Zawiya this morning, Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
A select group of academics and researchers from various Libyan and Arab universities are participating in this conference.
The scientific papers presented at this conference according to the themes are as follows:-
1- Geotechnical and Geophysical Engineering Axis 7 Papers.
2-Theme of Chemical and Environmental Engineering 12 papers.
3-Topic of Petroleum Engineering 7 Papers.
4-Renewable and Environmental Energy Axis 11 Papers.
5-Theme of Geological Tourism 4 Papers.
6-Theme of Spatial Technologies in Natural Resource Development One Paper.
The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by the President of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, Dr. Ramadan Al-Madani, and the Director General of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, Dr. Faisal Al-Abdali.
Several presidents of Libyan universities and scientific and research centers also attended the conference activities.
This conference comes as part of the efforts of the Higher Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas in Zawiya, Zawiya University, and Nafusa Oil Operations Company to explore the aspects of the Libyan economy through the study and research of sources concurrent with the oil sector and constructive participation to contribute to finding some solutions through studies and research related to natural resources.
This conference aims to highlight aspects of natural resources and the problems and issues they face in usage and development, in order to contribute to opening avenues for researchers, specialists, and those interested in the field of natural resources, as well as to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between higher institutes, research centers, oil institutions, and their affiliated companies.
Conference Objectives:
1- Identifying the most important natural resources for the Libyan economy and the available alternatives to oil.
2- Safe disposal of industrial waste to protect the environment.
3- Assessing the environmental and health impacts due to the presence of oil fields and industrial facilities near urban and agricultural areas and water sources.
4- Guiding specialists and decision-makers to take necessary measures to protect the environment from the impact of the excessive use of natural resources.
Activities accompanying the conference:
1- An accompanying exhibition for the conference that pertains to companies, industrial establishments, investors, and graduates of colleges and higher institutes to showcase their products and investment studies.
2-Scientific and tourist trip to the cities of Nalut and Ghadames.
