Participation of the Director of the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Training at Nalut University in a meeting of directors of postgraduate studies departments at Libyan universities.

As part of improving the quality of higher education in Libya and overcoming the obstacles faced by graduate students, an important meeting was held on the morning of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This meeting brought together the directors of graduate studies departments from Libyan universities. Several senior officials attended this meeting, including His Excellency Minister Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb, the Director of the Graduate Studies Department at the ministry, the Director of the Ministry Affairs Office, as well as the Deputy for Scientific Affairs at the Libyan Academy and the Deputy for Branch Affairs. The effective participation of Dr. Mohamed Amr Al-Qallal, Director of Graduate Studies and Training at the university, further demonstrates the ministry's commitment to involving all stakeholders in the process of developing higher education.

The meeting focused on discussing a number of vital topics related to graduate programs in Libyan universities and the Libyan Academy and its branches. At the top of the agenda was the review and follow-up of the accredited academic programs, with an emphasis on the importance of identifying active and inactive programs to ensure the quality of education and its alignment with the needs of the labor market.

There was also a discussion on an important scientific aspect, which is the issue of supervision of master's and doctoral theses in certain disciplines. This is one of the main challenges facing graduate students. The attendees discussed ways to address this problem to ensure the continuity of the research process and provide the necessary support for the students.

In his speech during the meeting, the Minister emphasized the necessity of encouraging and supporting graduate studies domestically and developing them, reflecting the ministry's commitment to empowering national cadres and enhancing scientific research. He pointed out that scientific research is the foundation of the progress of nations, and therefore it should be given the utmost priority. He also stressed that there are two essential conditions for joining graduate programs: determining the level of English for those wishing to enroll and registering in the unified system.
