Upon the request of the President of Nalut University, Dr. Elias Abubakr Al-Barouni participated in the activities of an advanced workshop on
Exploring Research and Innovation Opportunities in the Horizon Europe Program, which was sponsored by the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, and under the supervision of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, took place over the two days of Tuesday and Wednesday, January 30-31, 2024, at the council's headquarters. It was attended by His Excellency Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb, the Director General of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Fitisi, the Director General of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, Dr. Faisal Abdul Azim, the President of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, former directors general of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, and a group of academics, researchers, and specialists in the fields of innovation and scientific research.
This workshop included a presentation by the contact points team about the Horizon Europe 2021-2027 program and what has been achieved during the past period since the formation of the team (Horizon Europe) in 2021, including seminars and workshops within research centers, universities, and public and private higher education institutions, in order to create real opportunities to advance the reality of scientific research and innovation in Libya and to establish a strong partnership with the European neighborhood in the fields of scientific research, aiming to achieve research results that contribute to creating sustainable community development.
