At the kind invitation of the High Council of State, the President of Nalut University, Dr. Mohamed Masoud Qnan, along with the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Saleh Said Al-Alawi, and the Director of the Graduate Studies and Training Department, Dr. Mohamed Amr Al-Qallal, participated in a workshop titled "Graduate Studies at Home: A National Priority" held in the capital, Tripoli, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
The workshop was organized and supervised by the Supreme Council of the State in collaboration with the Ministries of Technical and Vocational Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The workshop discussed the following:
• The challenges facing the support of graduate studies domestically, as well as listening to proposals and practical and scientific solutions to overcome the difficulties faced by master's and doctoral students, and addressing the importance of international agreements and global partnerships in enhancing graduate studies.
• The dialogue about the role of the Libyan Academy and its branches in establishing graduate studies domestically, how the academy has contributed to accommodating teaching assistants and master's students, and what the future plans are for developing the infrastructure and research to achieve quality and competitiveness.
• Preparing a practical and measurable national plan to connect institutions to support and develop higher education domestically.

The workshop was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of State, Dr. Mohamed Takala, along with several council members, as well as a number of ministers and deputies, officials from the higher education sector, university presidents, research center heads, deans of colleges, faculty members, several teaching assistants, graduate students, and a group of journalists, media professionals, and interested individuals.
Workshop Objectives:
- Assessment of the reality and challenges of graduate studies domestically.
- Amendment of policies, legislation, and regulations for graduate studies.
- Providing adequate funding for graduate studies domestically.
- Development of the infrastructure for graduate studies domestically..
- Enhancing international cooperation in graduate programs.
- Enhancing the level of research and innovation in graduate studies.

The first session is titled "Postgraduate Studies at Home: Between Challenges and Development Opportunities"
The second session titled "The Role of Scientific Research in the Advancement of Graduate Studies at Home"
The third session is titled Successful Global Experiences in Localizing Graduate Studies
The fourth session is titled Towards a National Strategy for Supporting, Funding, and Developing Graduate Studies at Home.
