"The First Consultative Meeting of Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs"

In the context of coordination and integration in the implementation of scientific programs at universities and exploring ways to implement the plans of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and achieve its strategies with unified visions, Mr. Saleh Said Al-Alawi, the Deputy for Scientific Affairs at Nalut University, attended the first consultative meeting of the deputies for scientific affairs from universities in the western region, held at Al-Jafara University on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. During this meeting, several deputies for scientific affairs from universities located in western Libya (Nalut University, Al-Jafara University, the Libyan Academy, Zawiya University, Ben Walid University, Zaytouna University, Gharian University, and Zintan University) met, following an invitation extended to them by the Deputy for Scientific Affairs at Al-Jafara University.

The meeting discussed several items in the presence of the President of Al-Jafara University, Dr. Al-Fitouri Dou Nasr.

Item One: Coordination among agents to implement policies and general plans and to enhance the quality of the educational process in order to keep pace with scientific developments in regional and international universities.

Item Two: Defining the responsibilities of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the possibility of renaming it (Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs) to align the title with regional and international universities.

Item three: Discussion of the graduate studies file at Libyan universities and working to improve the quality of scientific outputs.

Item Four: Discussion of ways to address the financial procedures for faculty members in graduate studies, delegation, activating agreements and experience exchange programs, and hosting students at universities.

Item five: The mechanism for operating laboratories and research facilities and benefiting from them in serving the educational process and scientific research in a collaborative manner.

Item six: Requesting the ministry to assign the academic affairs deputies at Libyan universities to prepare and draft a code of conduct for faculty members to work with.

Item Seven: Enhancing the position of faculty members and their role in fulfilling the community's mission.

Item Eight: Discussion of the mechanism for filling out performance rates for faculty members.
