Focus Group Interview

Dr. Abdul Moneim Jumaa Al-Tamtam, the Director of the International Cooperation Office at Nalut University, attended the focus group meeting for the ARMONIA project, held at the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies in Janzour on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was accompanied by the office coordinator, Dr. Said Mohammed. The meeting was chaired by the President of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, Prof. Ramadan Al-Madani, and supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This competitive project is a joint initiative between the Libyan Academy, in partnership with the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), and several partner Libyan universities.

This meeting falls under the implementation program of the ARMONIA project for aligning study units based on the European system (ECTS), which will enhance the quality of higher education by utilizing the educational systems used within European universities.

– The ECTS system is designed to facilitate the movement of students between different countries. Since this system measures students' educational achievements in addition to their workload, a student can easily transfer the credits they have earned from one university to another in all countries participating in the system.

This project is considered an active participation of higher education and scientific research institutions in partnership projects and capacity building in competitive projects of the European Commission for Education and Culture, within the European Union.

Mr. Marcello Scalise, the President of the Euro-Mediterranean Universities, attended the meeting along with his accompanying delegation, the Director of the University Affairs Department, the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Directors of the International Cooperation Offices at Libyan universities.

The Director of the International Cooperation Office at the university, along with the General Coordinator of the office, participated in the workshops held on the sidelines of the meeting, attended by directors of international cooperation offices and several officials from Libyan universities and the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies.
