The Second National Forum for Heads of Editorial Boards of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals

The President of Nalut University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Masoud Qnan, the General Supervisor of the Shros Scientific Journal, Prof. Dr. Said Amhamed Wargh, Dr. Mohamed Al-Tayef Othman Sheha, the Editor-in-Chief of the Shros Journal, Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Zahmoul Al-Dawi, the Editor-in-Chief of the Lisan Al-Qalam Journal, and Dr. Mohamed Omar Al-Qallal, a member of the advisory committee for the Shros Journal, participated in the second national forum for the heads of editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals organized by the Committee for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals at the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, under the slogan "Towards Building Bridges of International Cooperation in Scientific Publishing," held in the auditorium of the Libyan Academy for Postgraduate Studies this morning, Sunday, October 27, 2024.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Imran Al-Qaib, Dr. Faisal Abdul Azim Al-Abdali, Director General of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, and Dr. Fathi Salem Abu Zkhar, Director of the Libyan Center for Amazigh Studies, along with the editors-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journals at Libyan universities and the centers affiliated with the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research.
The general program of the forum:
• The first intervention is titled "Committee for Accreditation and Assurance of Quality of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals: Efforts in Monitoring, Submission, Challenges, and Future Vision."
Presented by Dr. Hussein Marjeen, Chairman of the Committee for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals.
• The second intervention is titled Improving the Quality of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals According to Scopus Standards.
Presented by Mr. Omar Zahab, the Regional Director of Research – Africa, the Middle East, and the Arab Levant for the Elsevier Foundation

• The third intervention titled "Linking Research and Knowledge Development: An Introduction to Persistent Identifiers."

• The fourth intervention: the unified digital platform for academic publishing and enhancing the effectiveness of scientific journals.
Presented by Sharif Al-Maghawi, the Regional Director of Al-Manhal - North Africa
This forum aims to identify the main obstacles and challenges facing peer-reviewed scientific fields in applying standards, as well as to exchange practices and experiences in managing peer-reviewed scientific journals, and to learn about the most important steps, mechanisms, and accreditation standards, and to determine the key proposed pathways.
The second national forum for the heads of editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals is an important step for the Committee for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of peer-reviewed scientific journals in fulfilling its tasks and achieving its goals of raising the level of quality and credibility in peer-reviewed scientific journals. This forum is an opportunity to enhance and develop the scientific research and publishing sector in Libya, and to improve and develop the quality of peer-reviewed scientific journals. Through this forum, the committee aims to engage in dialogue, discussion, and the expression of viewpoints on the process of scientific research and publishing with the heads of editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals registered in the Libyan Scientific Research Authority system.
