"National Council for Economic and Social Development Initiative to Enhance the Role of Universities and Research Institutions"

As part of the development and enhancement of the role of Libyan universities and research centers in shaping the state's public policies, the President of Nalut University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Masoud Qnan, participated in the dialogue session organized by the National Council for Economic and Social Development on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, regarding the initiative presented by the Council's administration. The session was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Imran Al-Qeeb, the Director General of the Council, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Fitisi, the President of the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Faisal Abdul Azim Al-Abdali, and the President of the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Ramadan Al-Madani.

Also present at the dialogue were a group of scientific figures represented by the presidents of public and private universities, the heads and directors of research centers, as well as experts and specialists in the field of education and scientific research.

The dialogue highlighted the importance of empowering Libyan universities with tools and skills that enable them to play an active role in public policy-making, and several successful experiences in this context were reviewed.

At the conclusion of the dialogue, it was agreed to form a joint working team to prepare a matrix of procedures that reflect reality, in order to reach fourth-generation universities.
