"Dr. Ilyas Abu Bakr Al-Barouni’s Participation in the Libyan Economic Forum"

Dr. Elias Abubakr Al-Barouni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Nalut University, participated in the Libyan Economic Forum organized by the National Council for Economic and Social Development under the slogan "Libya: A Promising Future," held in the capital, Tripoli, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

The first session of the Libyan Economic Forum was inaugurated under the generous patronage of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Engineer Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, at the headquarters of the National Council for Economic and Social Development.

This first-of-its-kind event was attended by the esteemed President of the Supreme Council of the State, the President of the Audit Bureau, and Ministers of (Transport, Social Affairs, Tourism and Traditional Industries, Marine Resources), the heads of (the National Authority for Urban Planning, the General Authority for Information, the Authority for Industrial Development), and the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Economy and Trade, the President of the Libyan Company for Project Management in partnership with the private sector, the General Director of the National Program for Small and Medium Enterprises, as well as a number of diplomatic ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations. From the private sector, the President of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture and its affiliated chambers attended, along with the heads of public and private companies from various fields, in addition to the directors of public and private banks and academic experts.

This event included several opening speeches by the President, Ministers, and heads of the National Unity Government bodies. Additionally, there were presentations and visual displays regarding the general framework of the unified national vision and a set of development plans prepared by the council in collaboration with relevant entities.

This event witnessed the signing and approval of a total of 14 national strategies by the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government. Several heads of relevant authorities and team leaders who implemented these national efforts attended the signing ceremony.

A press conference was held on the sidelines of the event, which included the General Director of the Council, the Minister of Transportation, the Chairman of the National Urban Planning Authority, and the Chairman of the General Authority for Information. As a result, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Council for Economic and Social Development and the Tadawul Electronic Technology Company.
